Mixed Martial Arts (MMA) 4 Kids 6-14
What is MMA?
MMA extracts techniques from striking arts such as Boxing, Kung Fu, Muay Thai, Kickboxing and many other martial arts, integrating grappling techniques from Judo, Wrestling, and Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu (Gi & No Gi). All these Martial Arts merge into one Combat Sport.
Sport doesn’t develop character—it reveals it. At United Martial Arts & Fitness, we provide a leading Character Development System that goes beyond physical training. We focus on shaping students into resilient, respectful, and responsible individuals, empowering them to excel both in martial arts and in life.
UMF’s MMA 4 KIDS PROGRAM
Consists of our Brazilian Jiu-jitsu (Gi & No gi) and Boxing / Kickboxing / MT classes
UMF is the ONLY Townsville school that provides the industry’s #1 Character Development System
UMF MMA 4 Kids is more than just punching, kicking, elbows & knees. MMA alone DOES NOT develop character, having a structure towards self-respect (behaving dignified & honourably) is what we want for our MMA Kids.
Is MMA 4 Kids good for self-defence? We must be honest.
The UFC uses the tagline ‘As Real as it Gets’. Meaning that MMA is as real as it gets to fighting in the real world. Is that true? People think it’s the same and by default that MMA is best for self-defence. However, the issue is not as simple as you may think. There is a difference in training for a street violent encounter, compared to an MMA fight. If you are after a 4WD and you are sold a 2WD, how would you feel. The takeaway is your child will learn to apply MMA skills for a Combat Sport Arena. MMA 4 Kids training prepares your child for a physical altercation when all else fails. The industry’s #1 Character Development System will prepare children to respond by stopping conflict BEFORE it starts, to AVOID and therefore PREVENT it. The highest goal of the martial artist.
WHY UMF’s MMA 4 KIDS program stands out.
- Power is not based on physical strength or ability to dominate others.
- Power is not the ability to win or know more than others.
- A powerful person is one who knows defeat.
- A powerful person is one who wants to learn.
- A powerful person is one who can understand him or herself and has the desires to understand others.
The greatest gift we have to offer in the martial arts is Character Development which infuses us with values a capable and responsible citizen of the community. This is our intent – to teach MMA in a practical, fun, and respectful way.
“90% of MMA students just want to learn MMA and to get fit, only 10% want to get into the cage and compete”.
To meet your needs, UMF has a structured MMA curriculum to give students short- and long-term goals.
Emilio Cardenas, aiming to provide Townsville's best character development program for kids, recently completed a Rock and Water Program. This expands UMF's offerings beyond their top-rated system by incorporating social-emotional skills through Rock and Water's unique, research-backed approach (founded in 1998). It's not just about fighting; it's about building self-confidence, communication, and resilience – exactly what Rock and Water helps young people achieve through physical exercises and the "Rock" (strength) vs. "Water" (flexibility) metaphor.
